Varian Star Utilities

There follows a selection of utilities for the Varian Star Chromatography Workstation software. This software is not Varian supplied or supported. It is available for free download, and as such is supplied on a "as is" basis. However, any comments on reliability and additional features required would be welcomed. All utilities have documentation included.

  • {Bracket} Version 3.0.3 - an application to enable bracketing standards

  • QSEditor - a QuickStart configuration editor. This is available in two different versions. Version 1.0.1 for WS software versions up to 5.3, the other, version 2.0.5, for WS version 5.4 and higher. Note that the CombiPal Autosampler is only supported if supported by the installed version of Quick Start.

  • SSEditor Version 1.0.2 - a System Suitability configuration editor

  • SuitSum Version 1.0.1 - a programme to produce a summary of System Suitability reports and precision data as part of an automatic run, and without using Excel.

  • Open Access Version 1.3.1.0 - This programme gives the lab manager the ability to provide to anybody "Open Access" to a Star Workstation system, secure in the knowledge that they can only run sample types defined within the system, and can have no access to any other part of the computer

  • Star Screen Version 1.0.4.0 - This programme displays results to the screen from instruments immediately on completion of their run. Optionally the results from individual components may be tested against upper limits and an alarm sounded if the limit is breached.

  • WaitPeriod Version 1.0.1.1 - This programme is a variation on the standard Advanced Apps "Wait" programme. This one waits for a specific elapse time to pass, rather than for a particular time to occur.

  • GoToUntil Version 2.0.0.0 - This programme is a variation on the standard GoTo programme. Like the standard programme it allows the user to loop back in the Sample or Recalc list to repeat a section of it. It takes a second parameter, however, which is the number of times to repeat the loop. After the number is completed, the rest of the Sample/Recalc list will be processed. Version 2 allows the use of nested GoToUntil lines.
